Getting Here

Arriving By Air

The venue and hotel block are both roughly equidistant between the Oakland International Airport and the San Francisco International Airport, so either is a good choice for flying in, though SFO will typically have more flights available. Our hotel block is at the Sonesta in Emeryville, about a 20m drive from the venue, and situated between both airports and the venue.

Local Transportation

The wedding venue, Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, is in Kensington, a small unincorporated town just north of Berkeley. The church has ample parking, but is up in the hills, and thus not very well served by public transportation. We would recommend people either drive in via personal or rental car or take a rideshare.

Hotels

Coordinated Room Block - Sonesta Emeryville

There is a block of rooms reserved for our wedding at the discounted rate of $149/night, with complimentary onsite parking, at the Sonesta Emeryville. The hotel is has a beautiful view of the Bay, is easy to access by freeway, and roughly a 20 minute drive from the wedding venue in Kensington.

You can book as part of this block using the special link here, or else by using the group code G052127ENGI if you prefer to book over the phone. Important note: this room block includes parking and breakfast free as a part of our contract, so while the checkout flow will automatically if you want to purchase these add-ons, you don't need to do so.

Budget Alternative

While our room block hotel optimizes a bit more for comfort and accessibility, America's Best Value Inn - Richmond is a better budget-conscious option, that also has the benefit of only being a 7 minute drive from the wedding venue. It's definitely more of a motel experience, but at around $90/night, a lot more affordable than other hotels in the area.

Non-Traditional Alternative

We know that we have built a life far from many of our family and friends, and also know that a cross-country trip can sometimes be a financial challenge. In recognition of that, we have come up with a few options for no-cost (though correspondingly less private) accommodations.

- We have a few friends in the area with guest rooms

- We have booked a wedding AirBNB nearby with room for 6-8 people, which we are treating as effectively extra available guest rooms.

We'd like to prioritize making both of these options available for folks who might not otherwise be able to attend the wedding due to hotel costs. As a result, we'd ask you to definitely reach out to one of us if you're interested in staying in one of these spaces, while also being considerate of the fact that these accommodations will be a limited resource.
